Joseph Warren Isaac (born August 18, 1940), most commonly known in the United States as Warren Isaac, is a retired American professional basketball player and coach. He had a standout college career at Iona during the 1960s before playing and coaching professionally in Italy.
Isaac was born and raised in New York City. He attended Power Memorial Academy, the national high school boys' basketball powerhouse that has graduated players such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Len Elmore and Chris Mullin. Between 1957 and 1961 he starred for the school under coach Jack Donohue before moving on to play at Iona College.
In his time as a Gael, which only lasted three seasons (NCAA rules prohibited freshmen from playing at the time), Isaac scored 1,341 career points and grabbed 1,124 rebounds. He holds school records for points in a game (51), field goals made in a game (21), rebounds in a season (480) and single season rebound average (20.9). As a senior in 1964–65, Isaac averaged 25.2 points and 20.9 rebounds per game, which ranked him 13th and second in the country, respectively. That year he became the first player from Iona to win the Haggerty Award, an award presented to the best male collegiate basketball player in the New York City metropolitan area. After college, the Cincinnati Royals selected him in the fifth round of the 1965 NBA Draft. Isaac opted to play abroad and ended up in Italy instead.
From 1965 to 1971, Isaac played in the Di Varese Basketball Association. He returned home to the United States to play one year for the Long Island Nets before officially retiring as a player.
Isaac immediately got into coaching, and his first stop was at his alma mater. He spent time as an assistant under head coach Gene Roberti. He eventually returned to Italy to coach, and from 1986–87 through 1992–93 he was the head coach of various teams. These teams included Divarese Varese, C.Riunite R.Emilia, Sidis Reggio Emilia, Depi Napoli and Cagiva Varese.
